Media supply for production cells

Media supplies for production cells act as the interface between the main supply of a production hall and the individual production facilities. These units supply the relevant production process with compressed air, cooling water and process gases, and monitor them.
As a result, the compressed air used can be monitored and evaluated by a compressed-air meter, for example. This enables considerable cost savings for the system operator, by for example identifying a leak early on or optimising the volume of the compressed air used. To protect the machine operator when entering the production cell, a 3/2 directional control soft-start valve vents the entire system. In addition, the compressed air is prepared again by a filter at the maintenance unit prior to the production process. A dirt filter in the cooling water supply can prevent the system from becoming contaminated by dirt particles and extend the service life of the individual cooling water components in the production cell.

The hall installation plate (HIP) provides compressed air and cooling water to a production cell. It is integrated into the guard of the production cell and supplies several robots and devices.
The compressed air is monitored by a flow meter and a pressure switch. A soft-start valve ensures that the system is slowly filled with compressed air when it is switched on.

Automatic ball valves are used to switch off the cooling water supply. The media supply is accessed via a valve terminal and is connected with this terminal for higher-level control.
